Still Life

– About –

in this age of digital photography where many photographs are lost in the archives of the computer, there is as need to  focus the attention of many moments, a collection of thoughts, rolled into one image that resonates with the energy and likeness of the person or group that will  live for  centuries to come.

If you go along to the National Portrait Gallery you will feel the energy of the people through the ages looking down from the walls; they look like you and I but of an earlier era, through the painting you can step into their world, their life and history,

Portraiture is a wonderful opportunity to record our time capsule be it a Regiment,  a Board of Directors, Sports team, a centenary celebration of an

event recording the people involved, your family, wife/husband, children – the list of reasons are endless.

I have always drawn people from as early as I can remember, In 1999 this dream was realised by going to Charles Cecil Atelier in Florence

for a year to study, which led to a diploma in portraiture at Heathelys London, and travelling to America on six occasions to study under the American Masters, along with studying anatomy.

Since then i have painted many portraits, including  30 Officers of the Irish Guards that was unveiled by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2015

In 2012 I won the President and Vice President Choice Award at the Society of Women Artists exhibition for ‘Model in New York” best painting in the show.

In 2010 I won the Peoples Favourite Painting Prize for the John Singer Sargent 125th Anniversary Exhibition in Broadway for ‘Lady in Red”

The Irish Guards

It was a great honour to paint the Officers of the Irish Guards.

During the first few months they all individually sat for oil studies which was very important for the ‘Life’ of the painting. I had the uniforms in the studio.

It was great fun! The project took 2 years  –as half where in Afghanistan for 6 months.

The painting was 2.6m x 1. My husband stretched the canvas and framed the painting. It was oil on linen with beautiful hand ground oil paint by Micheal Harding and Vasari

The Duke of Cambridge is the Colonel of the Regiment. Much to my surprise he and the Duchess of Cambridge unveiled the painting on St Patricks Day 2015. An amazing day!

Nigel’s Sitting Experience

"It is an amazing experience to watch the artist; how she can, with a few dabs of paint, a quizzical look, a measurement, create your image on the canvas – not only the likeness, but you.

You don't have to look in one place the whole time, only when asked to think 'happy thoughts', otherwise it is lots of conversation and drinking frothy coffee –of which Lindy is justly famous! It is a bit like a spa treatment, extraordinary."
